We snowshoed on the frozen ice to a little island in the middle Lake Gamitagama and camped overnight. We did an out-and-back to Old Woman Lake the next day. It was already 0 degrees (F) and was expected to drop another 20 overnight so we decided to call it early. Even then our tent poles had all frozen together and we had to hold each joint in our hands for a minute or two to melt it. Brutal! We got to the end of the lake pretty late on the way out. The full moon was shining over the frozen lake and it was a scene that's been stuck in my soul ever since.
